When it comes to taking care of your skin, naturally you only want the best for it. That is where Manuka honey comes in to save the day and your skin.
In this post I will explain the benefits of Manuka honey, where you can find it, and a personal DIY recommendation for a great Manuka honey face mask that I personally use on a monthly basis.
You may be thinking, okay this is just another honey, what makes Manuka honey so special? Well to start with, Manuka honey is a monofloral honey obtained from the legendary antibacterial and anti-fungal tea tree. The magic of Manuka honey is that the bees pass on the additional anti-fungal and antibiotic properties of the tea tree into their already antibacterial honey, making it even more beneficial and active. So how does Manuka honey benefit the skin?
If you have a busy life and start to experience stress, more likely than not it can affect your skin, causing acne. Manuka honey helps reduce redness, exfoliates, and moisturizes. However, it is most well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. As a result, it works wonders to heal/prevent acne and eczema. Manuka honey can give your skin an all-natural deep cleanse by drawing out any unwanted bacteria to help clear up acne. It also has amino acids, live enzymes, and is packed with B vitamins. Therefore, it has the power to repair and rehydrate your skin making it feel soft and loved again.
Now that you know the skin healing benefits of Manuka honey you’re probably wondering how you can get your hands on it and how to use it?
Although this active honey originates from New Zealand, thankfully you won’t have to travel that far to get some of your own! You can search for it at your local grocery or convenience stores and keep and eye out for “12+” or “15+” and so on, as these numbers show you how concentrated and active the honey is. The higher the number on the packaging the better! You can also find Manuka honey at Whole Foods or on Amazon. After you get your hands on some Manuka honey, you can eat it to boost your immune system and prevent colds, use it as a spot treatment on your trouble spots to treat and heal them, as a gentle cleanser, or to create your own Manuka honey face mask!
Anyway that you decide to use Manuka honey you will be reaping the benefits of this special ingredient; and who knows, this Manuka honey face mask could be the cure your skin has been searching for!
