I hope you are having a great week so far Global Beauties 🙂
Positive thinking is a powerful thing! Convincing myself to think positive has helped me grow into the person I am today. Throughout high school, like your average teenage girl (or boy), I faced some hard times – and we know that teenage hormones can add mountains to tiny hills – but I got through them through counteracting negative emotions with much more positive ones. Turning negative vibes and thoughts into positive ones increased my confidence greatly.
In particular, I recall learning about The Secret, a self-help book written by Rhonda Byrne. This book, much like The Power of Positive Thinking, a self-help book written by Norman Vincent Peale, introduced people to the world of positive vibes and open hearts. Which in turn, leads to confidence and feeling downright beautiful – all of the time.
The benefits of positive thinking outweigh negative energy by a landslide: we think better, feel better, look better, are more involved and conscious, and have more energy to use towards success. There are many tips and tricks for living a more positive and understanding lifestyle, some can be found here on the Huffington Post and other tips and tricks can be found in a variety of different places – like sweet, small talk with a perfect stranger on the subway or listening to an upbeat song that gets your feet tapping.
Every person’s mentality and understanding is different though, for example, my favorite tips and tricks don’t come from perfect strangers (okay, maybe sometimes they do), but they come from looking down, at my knees. Sounds strange but there’s a rhythm to this, I promise! I have two positive affirmations tattooed above my kneecaps, so when I’m looking or feeling down, I look down and read them to boost my confidence and thought process. They read: “You are as good as your best line” and “You have got the bull by its horns”. Little notes (not so little considering I’ve made them permanent) like these remind us to stay gracious and positive, even when times get tough.
As mentioned, there are tons of ways to get on the track to positive thinking and using it to your advantage. The power of positive thinking can lead to successful jobs, relationships, and great social interaction. It can also lead to confidence boosting elements like glowy, healthy skin due to the release of endorphins. As said on Get The Gloss, “[Positive] affirmations are proven methods of self-improvement because of their ability to re-wire our brains by increasing the level of endorphins released into the body.”
Now, Global Beauties: if you’re interested in using positive affirmations more frequently to develop a stronger, more positive mentality, along with a healthier and more beautiful appearance, that directly contributes to your self-esteem, here’s a few affirmations that will surely do the trick (some are also lyrics from my favorite mood-lifting songs):
- I love and approve of myself.
- I draw from my inner strength and light.
- I breathe in calmness and breathe out nervousness.
- I refuse to sink.
- I am happy. I have learned to adapt.
- I am a better person because of the hardships I have been through.
- The company of strangers teaches me more about my own likes and dislikes.
- I am deeply fulfilled with who I am.
- I’ve convinced myself that I’m brave enough for all of this.
- I came in here alone but that doesn’t scare me like it did [seven] months ago.
- I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.
- Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas.
- I acknowledge my own self-worth; my confidence is soaring.
- I radiate beauty, charm, and grace.
By focusing your energy on positive thinking you can become the happiest, healthiest, and most wonderful version of yourself! Have a wonderful week ahead <3
